Accessibility

Our website has been designed with accessibility in mind in order to help everyone meet their needs and find the information they are looking for. If you have experienced a problem accessing or reading any material please let us know and we will try to provide the information in a format that is useful to you.

We aim to comply with all of the Priority 1 (A) and 2 (AA) accessibility checkpoints as established by the World Wide Web consortium’s (W3C) web accessibility initiative and government guidance standards wherever possible. We believe that we have achieved compliance but if you have experienced any difficulties please let us know by contacting us via the details at the end of this page.

Increasing text size

Some users might find screen text easier to read by increasing the size at which text is displayed. To do this you should simply adjust your browser's settings. Depending on your browser type use one of the following:

• if you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to Page Tab, select Text Size and then either Larger or Largest;
• if you use FireFox hold down the Ctrl key then press the + key to enlarge text size
• if you use Safari go to the View menu then select Make Text Bigger
• if you use Google Chrome go to Settings, then Advanced Settings, scroll down to Web Content, then select either Large or Very Large

Downloadable documents

Where possible we have included downloadable files in Adobe PDF format. To view these files you will need Adobe Reader which you can download free from Adobe’s website: http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/

Converting PDF files

Visit http://www.adobe.com/accessibility.html for tools which convert PDF files to html or text files and for further information about PDFs and accessibility.

Browser Support Policy

The Hoople website has been tested with a wide range of browser software: Microsoft IE 8.x, Microsoft IE 9.x, Firefox greater than 1, Netscape 5.x and Google Chrome 3.x. The following browsers should also provide access to all of the content and functionality on the site: Opera 9.x, Safari greater than 4, SeaMonkey 2.x, Avant 11.x and Iceweasel 3.x.

Checking conformance with web and online accessibility standards

Conformance checking against W3C/WAI guidelines and specifications will be periodically carried out by Hoople. The technical and usable accessibility of online content on the website has been checked using:

• automated testing and validation
• manual checks
• assistive technology tool testing
• expert reviews and conformance inspections of representative samples of web pages
